However, unlike standard vehicles, you cannot just stumble into this car early on. The 787B serves as a massive endgame Barn Find hidden away in the beautiful Takashiro region. Because it cannot be bought from the Auction House or traded between players, tracking down this hidden barn is the absolute and only way to add this high-rpm monster to your personal garage.
Do not make the mistake of driving straight out to the woods the moment you get total freedom on the map. The barn rumor will not trigger by itself until you have done some serious legwork. You need to progress deep into the Discover Japan campaign journal to unlock it:
Required Level: You must reach Level 7, earning the rank of Master Explorer.
The Final Gold Stamp: To get the actual barn rumor to pop up, you must unlock the final Gold Stamp. You can achieve this by staying busy across the map—complete story missions, dominate the touge and road racing scenes, and clean up those regional collectibles.
Once you hit Level 7 and clear the final Gold Stamp, your map coordinator will finally drop the rumor radius circle. You will want to set your GPS toward the far north-eastern corner of the Takashiro region. The general area is dominated by a massive, incredibly dense forest. If you are looking at a sea of thick trees, you are in the right ballpark.
Because the forest canopy is so thick, finding the structure by drone or casual driving can be a bit frustrating. Follow these precise steps to drive straight to it:
Find the perimeter road: Locate the wide, sweeping, U-shaped asphalt road that traces right along the outer edge of the northeastern forest.
Head to the crest: Drive along this road until you reach its highest geographical point toward the northeast.
Spot the trail: Slow down and keep your eyes peeled on the inside edge of the curve. Look for an inconspicuous, completely unmapped dirt path and gravel track that breaks off from the main asphalt and cuts directly into the dense tree line.
Follow it in: Follow this gravel road straight through the woods. It will guide you directly into a small, secluded clearing where the forgotten barn sits.
Pro-Tip: If you are having trouble spotting the turnoff from the main road, switch to your drone mode at the top of the U-shaped curve. Trace the tree line for a break in the bushes where the gravel starts, mark it, and then drive your car right in.
As soon as you arrive, a cinematic cutscene will trigger, revealing the iconic race car covered in dust, rust, and decades of neglect. Because the vehicle has sustained heavy structural damage from sitting out in the elements, it cannot be driven immediately. The team will load it up and send it back to your primary garage for a full overhaul.
